David M. Armesto, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Armesto was the first physician to perform refractive surgery (LASIK) in the Central Pennsylvania area and has extensive experience in the care of patients desiring surgery as an alternative to glasses and contact lenses. He is a fellowship-trained cornea and refractive surgeon with expertise in cataract extraction, advanced lens implants corneal transplants, and refractive surgery techniques. He is also experienced with minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).

After graduating magna cum laude from St. Bonaventure University, Dr. Armesto received his MD from the State University of New York. He completed his internship in family practice at Buffalo General Hospital and his residency in ophthalmology at the Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco where he was chief resident. He later served as the Chief of Ophthalmology for US Forces in Europe. He received his fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery in 1991 at the University of Texas, Houston.

Dr. Armesto has been a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1989 and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He serves as a board member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology and is also president of the Central Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology Society, His interests include skiing, hiking, traveling and jazz piano.
